The maintenance visit is begun by disconnecting the CPU, opening it up, and
thoroughly vacuuming the interior. Once the interior is cleaned, the
cards, data cables, and power cables are inspected for wear and proper seating.
The motherboard itself is also inspected for defective capacitors and proper
soldering. Prior to reassembly, the system is plugged in and turned on to
ensure the heat sink and power supply fans a operating properly. Once the
interior is completed, the case cover is reinstalled.
Next, the exterior of all major computer components including your printer
and scanner are cleaned and vacuumed as necessary.
The computer is then reconnected and booted. Floppy drives and optical
drives are cleaned next and their operation is verified. Once the system
is cleaned, it's time to verify system operation. The system is scanned
for viruses and spyware and cleaned up as necessary. Once the system is
free of malware, critical patches are applied to get your computer up to date
security-wise. A temp file and registry cleaning is on tap next.
Now that the hard drive is much healthier, it's time to run a thorough system
diagnostic; results of which remain on your hard drive for your review at your
leisure. Internet tests are then run to benchmark your network performance
and your protection from hacker threats.
Lastly, proper operation of your peripherals and USB ports are verified.
This entire visit will take approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the
condition of the computer.
Once the maintenance service is complete, we will provide you with a
detailed, handwritten
summary of the health of your computer. We will highlight any areas that
may require further attention such as defective hardware or security vulnerabilities or
any defective hardware.
